Termites on a new estate
Brand new houses still get found.
In short: Termite damage and the conditions that invite it, recorded at a St Ives building and pest inspection.
New is not immune
Termites already live in the ground around new estates, especially near reserves and creek corridors. A house is protected only while its system stays intact.
What the damage looks like
At a St Ives inspection, inactive termite damage ran through framing. It was found because the inspector traced the conducive conditions to it.
Conditions that invite them
Trees over the roof, beam ends open to vermin and soil heaped against cladding all appear on timber pest reports.
Tallawong specifics
New houses here start well protected. The risk grows when patios, garden beds and sheds go in without regard to the slab edge.
What to do
Keep the edge visible, fix leaks and book an annual inspection.
